Janet Pedroza, LISW, MSW, CCTP (she/her)

I have learned over the years that amazing things can happen when we learn to use the tools or resources that life offers. Teachable moments and life tools are all around us. I see actions such as discipline, accountability, playfulness, gratitude, and many more as tools that, when used appropriately, can bring immense benefit and enrichment to our lives. But sometimes traumatic experiences impact us in such ways that make it difficult for our mind, body, and spirit/soul to work in harmony, causing us to feel lost, in pain and in suffering, and unfortunately alone.

As a therapist, I walk humbly and with honor, knowing that being human is complicated and challenging. We can all use support. I offer compassion and empathy in my work with clients, knowing each person has a unique journey and calling.

Our work together is a collaborative process. I use a strengths-based approach, where we will identify and harness your unique strengths. Through the lens of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we will explore your relationship with your emotions, thoughts, and life. Together, we will identify the necessary tools that come naturally to you and the ones you will find most beneficial to practice.

My work is trauma-informed, meaning that I know that sometimes past experiences haunt our present moments and rob us from making or partaking in meaningful and intentional life experiences. As Gabor Mate says, “Trauma is not what happens to you; it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.” Being trauma-informed allows us to work together at your pace.

Lastly, my work is goal-oriented and resilience-focused. We will sit together and make a treatment plan. I will incorporate psychoeducation and provide a space for in-session exercises for you to practice independently outside our working space. I will also include “play” and celebrating minor victories, which is crucial to learning and growth!

So, when you are ready, we can sit down and breathe, and I will listen to your story. Then, when you are ready, we can continue your journey together.
